Shirley Friar is a resident of Irving, Texas. Her professional journey in music involves roles as music educator (BME), Jackson State University, Jackson, MS, music therapy clinician (MM), University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, special educator (M.Ed.), University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS and practical theologian (MPT), The King’s University, Southlake, TX. Her holistic view of humanity and divinity are presented through her core values of caring about the person first. She uses her training to make a difference in the lives of her students and clients and maintains a positive attitude with them and their families.
She is a gifted behavioral interventionist with the use of music, oftentimes utilizing behavior modification techniques to help children uncover hidden strengths and abilities within themselves.
As a skilled strategist and interpreter of the “music mind” connection, the elements of music become musical persuasions for building rapport and confidence through musical expression. Her philosophical foundations of music are grounded in a comfortable and caring environment for teaching students and clients to find their musical identity in music lessons.
