Trumpet, Piano, Percussion
Kolin Edrington started his musical journey at the age of eleven. He began by taking piano lessons, and began playing several other instruments throughout his time in high school and college. That journey led Kolin to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition from Butler University. His main instrument was trumpet, while continuing to focus on piano, brass, and percussion.
Kolin loves to collaborate with other musicians on compositions and help create a perfect piece for the various artists performing the work. The same could be said for his lessons. Kolin looks to tailor lessons to the needs and interests of each of his students.
During his time at Butler University, Kolin was heavily influenced by Dr. Michael Schelle, one of his composition professors. One of his favorite concerts to work on was a 24-hour concert, where he had to compose, rehearse, and perform a new piece of music in 24 hours.
Kolin believes that learning music, in addition to it’s many obvious benefits as an art form, can have additional impacts on ones organization, time management, and project planning skills. He wants to teach each of his students to appreciate the many different ways that music can influence our lives.
