Cheuk Ching Tse was born in Hong Kong and began learning the violin at the age of 6. She received tutelage from Yi Huang and Michael Ma, as well as the late professors Yao Ji Lin and Shi Sheng Zheng. She was awarded a full scholarship by the British Government’s Music and Dance Scheme to attend the Purcell School for Young Musicians in the United Kingdom,
where she studied with Berent Korfker.

Cheuk Ching’s global career includes solo performances with the Asian Chamber Orchestra in Hong Kong, the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra at the Watford Colosseum in England, and the Beijing Sun Youth Orchestra in Qingdao, China. She has performed at world-class venues, such as London’s Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall, Berliner Philharmonie and Darmstadt Theatre in Germany, and Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. As a guest performer of Gustav Mahler Orchestra, she has also had numerous opportunities to work with great artists, including Vadim Repin, Svetlana Zakharova, and Joshua Bell. In 2018, she was interviewed by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), which broadcasted her live performance of Bach Sonata No.1 Adagio.

From a young age, Cheuk Ching was awarded the first prize by the Hong Kong Music Festival in the Solo & Concerto categories over five consecutive years. Her talent and success made waves beyond Hong Kong into Greater China, where she won first prizes at the Guangdong Youth Violin Competition, Chinese National Youth Violin Competition, and the Eastern Strings Festival. She soon launched her career across the world in Europe, winning the second prize at the Purcell Concerto Competition and the absolute first prize at the International Music Competition Euterpe and Valsesia International Music Competition, both held in Italy. She is also a laureate of Germany’s Queen Sophie Charlotte Competition.

Cheuk Ching participated in and performed at the Tibor Vagar Music Festival in Switzerland, and has taken masterclasses with Zakhra Bron, Igor Ozim, Jacqueline Ross, Artemis Quartet, and Brodsky Quartet. She also received scholarships to attend masterclasses with Pierre Amoyal and Michael Vaiman at the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum in Austria, as well as with Aaron Rosand, Victor Denchenko, and Akiko Tatsumi at the Summit Music Festival held in New York.

She completed her Bachelor of Music at Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin), where she was a student of Latica Honda-Rosenberg and played a 1687 Andreas Guarneri violin (on a one-year loan arranged by the university). Cheuk Ching went on to earn her Master of Music at the Yale of School of Music, under the instruction of Hyo Kang with a Julia Havemeyer Full Scholarship and Fellowship. She currently resides in Washington, DC, and speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and conversational German.
